In honor of this city being home to nearly 3,000 professional arts organizations and institutions, Los Angeles will participate in Discover the Arts: History, Culture, Science and more. During this year’s program, over 40 of Los Angeles’ most popular cultural attractions will join in the celebration. Museums and theatres will offer 2 for 1 admissions, discounted show tickets and store discounts.

With Discover the Arts, you can experience some of Los Angeles’ finest art and culture for the price of one.  You can visit the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to see the Ming Masterpieces from the Shanghai Museum through June this year as well as contemporary art. The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Hammer Museum, the Craft & Folk Art Museum and the Museum of Latin American Art will also offer 2 for 1 admission until April 26 for more opportunities to see art in Los Angeles. Those interested in celebrities can visit the Hollywood Museum with a friend for the price of one admission. Get Ready to Travel the World at the LA Times Travel Show!

If you love to travel, there’s an event this weekend that you can’t miss. The 14th Annual Los Angeles Times Travel Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, January 28-29, 2012 from 10am to 5pm at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Named one of the top 10 trade shows and conventions in BizBash’s Southern California Top 100 events list, the show will have a special travel trade day on Friday, January 27 from 9am to 6pm.

The 2012 Travel Show is full of informative and inspiring travel panels featuring today’s leading travel experts. All panels are a first-come, first-serve basis in terms of seating. Celebrity speakers include Lisa Ling, Arthur Frommer, Adam Richman, Johnny Jet, Catharine, Johnny Jet and many more. Hundreds of exhibitors, trip giveaways, cultural entertainment, and travel experts are other highlights of the show.

You’ll have access to SHOW ONLY specials and giveaways from wind surfing to wine tours, safaris to scuba diving and more. You’ll also be able to discover amazing travel destinations, attractions, activities and resorts. Visitors can choose between the Travel in Style Pavilion, Xtreme Adventure Show, Kid’s World and Culinary Stage for entertainment, food and travel discounts.

Tickets to the show are $10 each day on site. You can get $2 off by purchasing advance online tickets when you use the code EARLYBIRD here. Children 16 and under are admitted for free. You can take the Metro to Union Station, then take the Red or Purple Line to 7th St/Metro Center Station, transfer to the Blue Line and exit at Pico Station. There are also several parking lots near the convention center for your convenience priced at $15.

If you’re more in the mood to celebrate Chinese New Year, take the Gold Line to Chinatown on Saturday at 1pm to experience the 113th Golden Dragon Parade and Festival.
