Geek Out at Comikaze Expo!

Calling all comic, anime, gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, pop culture and horror fans! If you missed Comic-Con this year, and you’re staying in hotels close to Universal Studios Hollywood, you can still attend Comikaze this weekend! Comikaze is the largest convention of its kind in Los Angeles. Some of this year’s guests include Stan Lee, Elvira, Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri. Kevin Smith and more!

Comikaze is comic legend Stan Lee’s official convention. This year, the pre-party will be held at the Vista Theater on September 13 with a screening of horror films. Stan Lee will host the kick-off event with performances from Peter Murphy and the Dark. Tickets to this show are $22.50-$30. Many cast reunions are taking place at Comikaze this year, including the original Batman TV series, Boondock Saints, Felicia Day and The Guild, Sushi Girl, Salute Your Shorts and Nickelodeon’s Wild and Crazy Kids reunion. Some of these reunions also include special screenings. Some of this year’s panels include discussions of steampunk, Doctor Who, paranormal romance, nerd culture and so much more!

This year Comikaze is featuring Zombie Apocalypse, a 75,000 square foot survival course infested with zombies! Only 4,000 people will survive. Will you be among the living? You will crawl, climb and slide to safety from brain-eating zombies! Tickets are $30.You can also volunteer to be turned into a zombie for the Expo.

Tickets for Comikaze Expo start at $20 for a single day pass and $30 for a weekend pass. Children 12 and under can attend for free. Why are tickets so cheap? Founder Regina Carpinelli aims to make the amazing event accessible to all fans in this tough economy.

Anime Expo brings Fantasy to Reality at the Los Angeles Convention Center

Anime has its roots in Japan but has become very popular here in the United States and seems to show no signs of slowing down with legions of fans including many females. It is considered an art form and delivers amazing artwork, epic storylines, legendary characters and a wide range of material. The Anime Expo is held every year in Los Angeles and is North America’s largest anime and manga event. Fans will get a chance to meet, hear and talk to some of the most famous anime, manga and musical artist from Japan.

The expo will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center on July 1 and end on July 4th, 2011. There will be many events to take part in including video gaming competitions, karaoke, costume play, video competitions and exclusive screenings. There will also be the popular Masquerade with over $25,000 in Masquerade Cash and prizes. The Masquerade competition gives fans an opportunity to transform themselves into their favorite anime and manga character. There is so much to do check here for the complete listing.

At the anime expo you will get to see some of the most creative and fantastic costumes in a nonstop marathon of Japanese pop culture. There will be plenty of music, games and food to quench you’re appetites while you experience the expo. It’s a wild event that takes you out of reality and immerses you into a world of fantasy and this year being “year of the fan” you will want to experience it at least once.
